Southside Speedway Helps Local Volunteer Fire Department

Midlothian, VAÖ.This Friday, June 20th, is Wagstaff Circle Volunteer Fire Department Night at Southside Speedway. These brave men and women can be found week after week in the infield, in the heat, in all of their protective clothing ready to serve in the event of an emergency. It is now our turn to serve them.

In the wake of the devestation of Gaston, the Wagstaff Circle Fire Department found themselves with a firehouse full of mold. The sleeping quarters were deemed unlivable and the crew has been forced to sleep in the equipment bays with no heat or air conditioning. Due to budgetary constraints, the county was forced to move the career staff to another location, and offered to do the same for the volunteers. However, the selfless volunteers chose to remain and continue to serve their community.

The men and women of Wagstaff Circle are in the process of rebuilding their living quarters, but canít do it alone. They are asking for assistance in their efforts from the community that they serve. Representatives from the fire department will be on hand at the Speedway on Friday to take donations and answer any questions. They will also have a fire truck for the kids to explore.

Racing gets underway at 7:30pm with twin 50s for the Modifieds, 30 laps for the Grand Stocks, and 25 laps for the U-Cars. Our Macka Karts will also be on tap with a 20 lap feature. Pit gates open at 3pm, front gates open at 6pm with qualifying at 6:30. Ticket prices are $10 for adults, $8 for Seniors/Military, kids 7-12 are $5, and 6 and under are free.
