Official Press Release - June 22, 2008

Midlothian, VA….Southside Speedway dedicated this past week to helping Wagstaff Circle Volunteer Fire Department to raise funds to rebuild its firehouse. While watching an exiting night of racing, patrons supported these tireless volunteers and helped them raise enough money for a new ceiling.

Meanwhile, on the racing front, Chris Johnson captured his second checkered flag of the season in the first of twin 50 lap Modified features. Johnson managed to keep out of the trouble that took points leader, Thomas Stinson, out of the first race. Coming in second was Warren Lipford, followed by Jason Eberth in third. Stinson came back in the second race to capture the lead early and maintain it. Chris Johnson managed to grab the second place finish, followed by Ryan Boggs.

In the Grand Stock division, Jamie Neely finally made his way to victory lane after numerous second place finishes this season. Points leader, Chris Hott came in second followed by Daniel Shelton in third.

A field of 20 U-Cars fought for a trip to victory lane through a 25 lap race. Frank Silva emerged victorious a week before he is set to wed. George Dickson came in second followed by Renno Marchetti IV in third.

Also on hand were the MACKA Karts for a 25 lap feature. Buzz Moore was able to capture the checkered flag. A photo finish found Brad Davis in second and Stanley Holmes in third.

Racing continues Friday night, June 27th with 150 laps for the Late Models. The Grand Stocks will have their longest race of the season with 100 laps. Pit gates open at 3pm, front gates open at 6pm with qualifying at 6:30. Racing gets underway at 7:30pm. Ticket prices are $10 for adults, $8 for Seniors/Military, kids 7-12 are $5, and 6 and under are free.
